MEMBERSHIP

The following information outlines WVOHOA’s membership.  All homeowner Associations within and the outlying areas of West Virginia are welcome to join, whether you are called an HOA or by some other name, as long your association satisfies the minimum requirements of an HOA to comply with WV statutes and establish an HOA that functions on behalf of their community. Individuals and businesses may also apply for membership to WVOHOA.

The three levels of membership are available:

  • Qualified Homeowner or Civic Association Membership, voting membership
  • Individual Membership, voting membership
  • Business Membership, voting membership

Documents: [Homeowner, Condo or Civic Associations ONLY]

  • Boundary Map of your Association (plat, tax map, other)
  • Copy of minutes of your last election meeting or certification signed by the President and Secretary of the Association of the most recent election and the date of that election.
  • Copy of the Board of Directors/Officer roster with contact information (if not included on WV Secretary of State Annual Report).
  • Copy of your current West Virginia Secretary of State CORPORATION or LIMITED PARTNERSHIP ANNUAL REPORT

Q: Why does WVOHOA encourage Members to provide these documents?
A: To better assist Members concerning important issues within the Organization.

WVOHOA uses membership funds for the following purposes:

  • Facilities to hold monthly meetings as well as events & workshops
  • Providing insurance for the Organization, the Board of Directors and our public outreach events
  • Maintaining WVOHOA.org website hosting* and marketing materials
  • Providing video production of WVOHOA’s education sessions
  • Providing outside speakers, refreshments, equipment & internet at our seminar workshops
  • Remaining current with the Secretary of State’s annual requirement for non-profit corporations
  • Continuing our professional membership with Community Associations Institute (CAI).
  • Interacting with our state legislature in Charleston concerning WV Code 36B and other statutes
