• Approximately 71,000 West Virginians live in 30,000 homes in fewer than 1,000 community associations.
• These residents pay $141 million a year to maintain their communities. These costs would otherwise fall to the local government.
• 2,400 West Virginians serve as volunteer leaders in their community associations each year, providing $2.3 million in service.
• The median home value in West Virginia is $115,000. Homes in community associations are generally valued at least 4% more than other homes.
